About Me.

Hi there! My name is Sutherland (or @SutherlandSkates ) and I’m obsessed with 4-wheeled shoes.

When I was a kid, my dad took me to lessons at a roller rink in Franklin, Indiana, and my love for roller skating began. Wait, that’s a lie – I didn’t like skating at first, but thankfully, my dad continued to encourage me to give the sport a real shot. It only took one summer of skating for me to be completely hooked. I guess your parents always do know best.

Nearly three decades later, and I’m still rolling – but nowadays on ramps as well as flat surfaces. Over the years dabbled in every skating style I’ve found, including roller derby, jam, park, rubber legging, artistic, street, NY/NJ, and ballroom.

My current goals include strengthening and growing the skating community around the world, skating in all 50 states, and as many countries as possible. So far, I’ve rolled in 11 states and 10 countries!

I teach roller skating classes and workshops in Jacksonville, Florida, as well as the surrounding areas, and also offer private lessons virtually to skaters all around the world.
